Welcome to Safarichatter.com!
Hello and Welcome to safarichatter.com, a place where you can read up on Industry news, share experiences of your trips into the African ‘bush’, or read up on interesting topics and stories that I’ve posted.
A casual forum for people with an interest in what’s going on in the world of Safariland… I’ll find stories on industry issues, provide bush craft information to enrich your trip and offer a platform for others to voice their opinion. As Safarichatter.com evolves so too will our views and impressions. From interesting sightings through to debates within the industry -- if you have something to say or any questions, post a comment under the relevant article or write in using the Contact us form.
The natural world is a place which offers constant change and everyday something new occurs which may well cause us to readjust our previous thoughts on animal behaviour, nature conservation or geography.

One example which did this for me a few years back was discovering a series photo’s showing a hippo eating from a carcass on the waters edge.
Hippo eating baby elephant
Most of us know hippo’s to be vegetarian, grazing in the evenings along or near to river banks. But the photo clearly showed the hippo, possibly through some extreme set of circumstances, supplementing its diet with minerals or salts from the carcass. There in plain view the rules were re-written!
Which just goes to show -- nature is always full of surprises. Not a day goes by whilst on Safari which isn’t filled with some curious or wonderful event. From that first sip of tea or coffee in the morning the day just gets better, only to be finished off with an evening sundowner -- a visit to Africa is always cherished.
